Traffic flow in Kampala city influences the mobility of goods and people. It is therefore very crucial that traffic flows smoothly with minimal delays to reduce travel time, road accidents, driver fatigue and pavement deterioration. This study focused on the corridor from Pride Theatre to Kabaka Anjagala roundabout along Rubaga road as this section is an entry to the Central Business District and access to many features such as the Rubaga Cathedral, Kampala central mosque and the Kabaka’s palace. The existing capacities and delays and the resulting levels of service of the junctions along this corridor were determined and it was found that all the junctions were operating below Level of Service below D. Therefore, appropriate geometric and traffic control measures to improve traffic flow were proposed. All the junctions were henceforth proposed to be signalised and the signals between Butikiro II and Kabaka Anjagala be coordinated. The effect of the proposed Non-Motorised Transport along Namirembe road was studied and found to reduce delays and conflicting movements at Pride theatre. However, due to the expected rerouting of traffic after its implementation, its effect was considered.en_US
