dc.description.abstractThis project presents the impact of integration of Distributed Generation on the local grid stability. The case study network includes a 6.5 MW Muvumbe Hydropower plant as the Distributed Generator and Mbarara North – Kabale 33kV feeder (MBN/KBL/33/1). UMEME Limited is the senior operator of the feeder. The case study network is modelled in DIgSILENT PowerFactory software in different scenarios. The network data obtained from ArcGIS Desktop software and single line diagrams from the network operator UMEME. An analysis of the faults on the case study feeder is provided for the periods before and after the power plant was commissioned in March 2017. The impact of the Muvumbe Hydropower plant and the eventual connection of the proposed 220/132kV high voltage grid extension from Mbarara Substation to Kabale substation through Mirama on the network losses and voltage profile is evaluated. Mitigation measures for the faults on the feeder are also suggested. Simulated results are obtained using load flow analysis, presented and thereafter discussed.en_US
