dc.description.abstract | The aim of this study was to investigate the socio economic determinants that affect the number of times a person accesses health care within a year in Bunamwaya Makindye Ssabagabo municipality in Wakiso district.
A sample size calculated then taken was 96 respondents and where selected through a simple random sampling through the use of well-designed questionnaires, thus required socio-economic factors were obtained appropriately. The data was then entered into Microsoft excel and then analyzed with use of a statistical package known as STATA.
Analysis was done at three levels first Univariate by use of frequencies and percentages, second at bivariate level were one-way ANOVA and Pearson correlation are employed and lastly at multivariate level by using a linear regression model, all analyses were done at 0.05 level of significance. Throughout the analysis, at bivariate level it was indicated that age of a person, income, Education level, distance to the health centre and being a member of a health scheme are major determinants of times a person should access health care within a year but multivariate analysis showed age of a person, income and distance to the health centre as consistent factors influencing the number of times a person access health care within a year.
A comprehensive research should be directed towards accessing the efforts of NGOs towards providing health services, therefore further areas of study includes identifying areas in Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality where health services are being provided, what kinds of services are being provided, and what NGO or government body is providing those services. | en_US |
