| dc.description.abstract | In this study, the researcher tried to examine the effect of taxes on the employment status of people living in Kampala city. The study made use of secondary data that was obtained from UBOS and Only 505 observations were considered.
The objectives of this study were; to establish the effect of taxes on the employment status of people, to establish the relationship between education level and the employment status of people, to establish the effect of the income levels on the employment status of people, to establish the strategies of minimizing levels of unemployment among people, to establish the relationship between taxation and unemployment in Kampala city.
The analysis was done using STATA at two levels that is; univariate and bivariate analysis where frequency tables, chi-square tools were used.
At univariate level, majority of the respondents were males (57.62%), the majority had attended school (98.02%), majority of the respondents also attended secondary level (44.92%) and the majority were employees (68.12%).
At the bivariate level, the results indicated that the majority of the males were employees, and also there is significant relationship between level of education and the employment status (p<0.05) and also there is significant effect of income tax on the employment status of people living in Kampala city (p<0.05). Also there is a significant effect of incomes on the employment status of people. | en_US |
