dc.description.abstractThis research study entails comparisons between two kinds of partitioning, that is the traditional masonry wall and drywall partitioning. Materials used in construction of the walls were identified for example in the case of drywall, materials such gypsum boards, timber or metallic studs and screws. In the case of brick walls, materials included sand, cement and the bricks. However it should be noted that in this study plastering was not considered and only unfinished walls were considered to remove any kind of complexity. On identifying the different materials, varying material prices from different samples were gotten for each of the materials for example various market prices for cement. These were then run in Easyfit software to get distribution fits and ranked to get the best distribution fits. Material items for 1m2 of each partitioning wall were then quantified. Monte Carlo simulations were done for the quantified materials plus their best fit distributions thus coming up with over 1000 iterations of the overall costs of construction, the mean was calculated which was then used to determine the cost margin.en_US
