Impact of capitation grant on education outcome in Kyadondo East, Nangabo Subcounty Wakiso District
Abstract
Provision of primary education for all children has been goal not only for the Uganda government but also one the Millennium Development goals. Since the introduction of free primary education in 1997 in Uganda, the government has invested heavily in education for its sustainability and realization of the UN Millennium Goals. The research thus conducted a study in Nangabo Sub-county in Wakiso district to establish the contribution of this capitation grant to the student’s performances. Capitation grant indirectly influences student’s performance through a number of intervening factors; the ones selected in this study included class room size, percentage of trained staff, teacher to pupil ratio, and pupil to text book ratio among others. The study revealed that capitation grant has had a greater positive impact on student’s performance and was a wise venture which the government should invest more in.
