Automobiles have undergone several modifications that enhance their functionality since their invention by the French engineer Nicholas Joseph Cugnot who built the first automobile which was a heavy, self-propelled vehicle with three tires and a steam driven carriage and a boiler (Pearson Education 2009). Automobiles are composed of a variety of systems, each of which is optimally designed to contribute to its proper performance during functionality. The transmission and suspension systems consist of one of the fundamental elements that give an automobile the ability to move along any surface and these are the tires. These have a significant safety impact on the vehicle and the driver as well due to their structural design that allows them to adapt functions such as dampen abilities, directional stability, minimal rolling resistance, cushion, long service life and optimal handling (Azodo, 2017).en_US
