There is an increase in usage of cosmetics mainly due to an exponential growth in number of consumers as well as rising standards of living. Their relatively short lifespan has resulted in a need for frequent replacement by consumers. This has triggered a need for their frequent manufacture, and inevitably that of their packaging. This packaging being predominantly made of plastic. Consequently, the high rates of production and consumption of cosmetics have seen an astronomical increase in plastic waste generation. In that regard, this project investigates the application of recycled paper and bagasse as an eco- friendly alternative to conventional plastic packaging in the cosmetics packaging industry.en_US
