The emergence of security patrols on Lake Victoria have been a major breaking through in countering the problem of illegal fishing activities which had become a threat to future levels of fish in the lake. However the patrols have had an impact on the operations of businesses at the landing site which affects their performance. The study is aimed at investigating how the security Patrols have affected the small scale businesses at the landing site, majorly focusing on their profits, sales and employment opportunities. To address the problem in the study, various measures were undertaken right from collection data using questionnaire at Kasenyi landing site, as well as carrying out Key Informant Interviews. The collected data was subjected to both univariate and bivariate analysis to reach to conclusions. From the analysis, results showed that security patrols on Lake Victoria had a negative effect on the profits and sales of small scale businesses at the landing site, as compared to the employment status where results showed that the patrols have a positive impact on employment opportunities at the landing site. These findings can enable authorities to revise and come up with means of ensuring safety of the fish species in the lakes with less negative impact on the performance of small scale businesses at the landing siteen_US
