dc.description.abstractThis study was carried out in Kampala, Uganda’s national and commercial capital bordering Lake Victoria. She is the capital and largest city of Uganda. She is divided into Kampala central division, Kawempe division, Makindye division, Nakawa division and Rubaga division. The total area coverage is 189 kilometers squared and the population as per the census of 2014 is 1,507,080. The study is concentrated on people’s thoughts, opinions, overview, understanding, interpretation of sensory information towards public bus services in Kampala city, Uganda. The content of research consists of six chapters. Chapter one consists of the introduction, statement of the problem, objectives of the study, research questions, justification and significance of the study as well as the scope. Chapter two consists of the literature review related to the research. Chapter three consists of the research design and methodology as well as the limitation of the study. Chapter four entails the research/ field findings. Chapter five entails presentation and discussion of the findings. Finally, chapter six brings us to the conclusion and recommendations. The overall objective of the study is to find out people’s perception towards public bus services in Kampala and change it as well as the services. The specific objectives include to identify the routes used and the number of buses in operation, to determine the number of people using the public buses in Kampala and to recommend for more bus stops/points as well as better public bus services. The study cross-sectional research design and combined several research methods that include quantitative methods of data collection like surveying with the assistance of questionnaires and interview guides and qualitative methods such as key informants, interviews and documentary were used to produce data. Information from the field is recorded, edited, coded, analyzed using statistical package for scientists and transformed into numerical form for easy interpretation. The study findings are based on the people’s perception of the public bus services in Kampala and the last chapter shows a conclusion, recommendations and suggested areas for further research. The study recommends for more research on partnering of the private and private sectors for better public bus services in Kampala.en_US
