dc.description.abstractThis report is for the research topic investigating the causes of discrepancies between design and construction in building construction projects in Uganda. Building construction is accompanied with many changes which may be inevitable and these frequently occur between design and construction in relation to structural details, architectural details, materials and quality of construction. They occur in various phases, for example; the design and the construction phase and may include changes in the size of rooms, locations and thicknesses of walls, locations and sizes of doors and windows, locations of underground and overhead water tanks, plinth levels from the ground surface, locations of beams and columns, foundation types and sizes, reinforcement details, quality of concrete, changes in bricks and tiles, changes in paints and finishes, quality of workmanship, insulating materials, changes in plumbing pipes and accessories, and changes in electric cables and accessories. The report comprises of five chapters. Chapter one describes the introduction of the study containing the background, problem statement, objectives of the study, significance and scope of the research. Chapter two describes literature about causes of discrepancies between design and construction in Uganda. Chapter three describes the methodology of the study. Chapter four describes the analysis, findings and results. Chapter five lays down the conclusive overview of the project and recommendations.en_US
