dc.description.abstractThe main objective of the study was to investigate the factors influencing the desire for more children among HIV Positive Women in Uganda. The study used merged data set from 2016 UDHS and 2011 AIS to investigate the factors influencing the desire for more children among HIV Positive Women 15-49 years and the sample size was 314 HIV Positive Women being respondents. The explanatory variables were: age of respondent, education level, marital status, residence, number of living children, husband‟ desire, wealth status and HIV Prevention Programs. The study found out that the desire for more children among HIV Positive Women had a significant relationship with age of respondents, education, marital status, residence and number of living children at the bivariate level of analysis. Most of the women were aged 20-24 and contributed 19.4% and majority of them were married with 74.8% .Education wise, the biggest percentage (55.1%) attained primary level of education. More results indicated that majority of the women (72.6%) resided in the rural areas of Uganda and majority of them were poor (44.4%).66.6% of the women had less than 5 children and desired for more children in their lifespan, 27.1% of women had husbands who desired for more children and 82.8% of the women had knowledge and received HIV Prevention Programs. The study concluded that HIV Positive Women desire for more children in their life span due to the introduction and accessibility to ARVs which have prolonged their life expectancy in Uganda. ixen_US
