dc.description.abstractThe topic of study was the effectiveness of land acquisition laws in relation to compensation of compulsorily acquired family land. The main objective of the study was to assess the effectiveness of land acquisition laws of Uganda in relation to compensation of compulsorily acquired family land. The study had three specific objectives which included; to analyse the legal provisions concerning family land during compulsory land acquisition in Uganda; to analyse what constitutes fair and adequate compensation for compulsorily acquired family land; and to assess how compensation assessment is handled for compulsorily acquired family land. Cross-sectional research design was employed which was qualitative and quantitative, 40 affected families fully participated in the study while 5 valuers and 5 lawyers as well participated fully.en_US
