A project report submitted to the College of Computing and Information Science in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of bachelor of information systems of Makerere Universityen_US
This project is called the VMMS which includes studying the existing system for Ministry of Health, analyzing and organizing data into information. It includes studying and designing of vehicle monitoring and management system using GPS and GSM Technology, GPS takes input data from the satellite and stores the latitude and longitude values. If we have to track the vehicle, we need to send a message to GSM device, by which it gets activated. It also gets activated by detecting where the vehicle is at given time.Once GSM gets activated it takes the last received latitude and longitude positions values from the buffer and sends a message to the particular number or laptop which is predefined in the program. Once message has been sent to the predefined device the GSM gets deactivated and GPS gets activated. The software development of this project includes the microcontroller’s source code, GSM message command, and the NMEA protocol command. The hard wares need for this system include GPS and the microcontroller wiring connection and its integration with the GSM module. This system is controlled by user in centralized command interfaces on a computer. This system will be used by the Government mainly ministries, that is ministry of health as a case study. After implementation, this system could further be taken to other ministries or companies because it is good for management and monitoring of government vehiclesen_US
