dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the channel through which SMEs have contributed towards women empowerment in Uganda; A case study of Masajja Municipality, the objective of the study were to find out whether women engaged in SMEs have contributed to education in the family, to find out whether women engaged in SMEs make decisions both in the family and community and to find out whether women engaged in SMEs engage in community activities such as leadership roles. The study employed qualitative methods of data collection where the study involved collection of data from women engaged in SMEs. The findings of the study were that it was discovered statistically that women engaged in SMEs have contributed to education in the family evidenced by the lower p-value of 0.003, women engaged in SMEs make decisions both in the family and community activities evidenced by a lower p-value of 0.009 and finally women engaged in SMEs engage in leadership roles evidenced by the chi-square p-value of 0.049. The conclusion were; women engaged in SMEs have contributed to education in the family, women engaged in SMEs make decisions both in the family and community and women engaged in SMEs engage in community activities such as leadership roles and the recommendations were; men should continue encouraging their women to participate in SMEs as it was discovered that their engagement contributes in the family and community such as leadership and contribution to education and the government should lower taxes on women operated SMEs to make them to continue to thrive.en_US
