dc.description.abstractThe main objective of the study was to assess the relationship between Female Labor force participation and their Fertility specifically considering women in Kampala district. The specific objectives for this study were, to examine the effect of women age, women education, the number of children born per woman and women’s marital status on labor force participation and also to examine whether age at first birth has an effect on female labor force participation. Secondary data was used in this study (UDHS 2016) for women in Kampala district. The data was later exported to STATA (16) to test the hypotheses as regards the specific objectives of the study. It was found out that current marital status of the woman, respondent’s current age group that is (20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39and 40-44) and higher level of education significantly explains women participation in the job market since the probability values were less than 0.05. It was further found out that the number of children ever born, age at first birth, the age group of 45-49, the primary level of education and secondary level of education cannot significantly explain women involvement in labor force since the probability values were greater than 0.05. It is less likely for married women and those living with partners to be currently engaged in employment than the ones who were never married basing on the data used in the study. This is because their time is divided between marriage, their partners and work. The divorced category perfectly predicts the current employment status of the respondents since all the divorced women were currently engaged in the labor force. This is because they have enough time for work. Generally, for the respondents’ age group variable, it is more likely for women in the 40-44 age group to be currently employed than all other age groups and lastly it is more likely for women who stopped at the higher education level to be currently employed than those who never had any education at all.en_US
