This report contains information on the designing, fabrication and experimental investigation on the working of a two-way energy efficient hacksaw Machine. The machine works on the scotch mechanism. The demand of hacksaw is considerably increasing day by day with the growth of industrialization, engineering, real estate, automobile sector, etc. It is used in almost every sector for cutting of materials like angle, channel, flat plates, rods, etc.In Uganda, a large number of small enterprises are engaged in manufacturing, so this hacksaw machinewill aim at reducing the production cost of such enterprises by increasing the level of performance as compared to traditional methods of production through better, accurate and faster cutting processes. Also as a perquisite to my mechanical engineering course, the report will contribute towards my academic qualification, and will also serve as a reference booklet for any interested individual in designing and construction of a two-way energy efficient hacksaw machine and for all the students undertaking bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at alllevels since it involves all the information necessary to produce the machine right from concept generation to tested results. It’s written in simple understandable English language and basic engineering technical terms are used with necessary assumptions made, standard formulae and basic principles of mechanical engineering used during the major design of components of the machine prototype. It also contains five chapters with each chapter well organized and easily followed, references and appendices for some of the information contained in this report are included in the last pages.en_US
