Knowledge, attitude and practice on marijuana use associated with the university students, a case study of Makerere University resident students.

Abstract

This study was aimed to find out the knowledge, attitude and practice on Marijuana use associated with university students. It was specifically aimed to determine the level of knowledge about marijuana use among the university students, the attitude on marijuana use among the university students, the level of marijuana use among the university students and the factors associated with Marijuana use among university students. It comprises of five chapters where chapter one includes the background to the study, objectives and statement of the problem. Chapter two includes literature review which is written in line with the objective of the study, this shows the opinions of other scholars who had did studies of about KAP on cannabis use in university students and conceptual framework. Chapter three includes research methodology where different data collection methods were used to gather information for example, participant observation, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and research instruments which also include interview guide (questionnaires) and observation check list. Chapter four shows a clear presentation and discussion of the findings. In the findings, gender, age, religion, residence, cannabis use by the students, source of money to buy cannabis and others were tackled in this chapter and finding shows that most of the respondents were male (51.43%) and it comprised about (50%) of them were youth and these students used their personal savings to buy the drug and majority of them were using drug for recreational purposes (50%). Chapter five has the conclusion and recommendation of the study.
