This report presents findings of a case study entitled the contribution of community education in facilitating behavioural change towards the use of contraceptives that was conducted in Muwunami camp, Lwampanga sub-county in Nakasongola district. The study was conducted with the view of providing the best practices and sustainable approaches on how to go about behavioural change by using the adult and community education approach. The study adopted a qualitative case study design, used purposive and convenience sampling techniques to select the study sample of 40 respondents. Data was collected using in-depth interviews and focus group discussions and analysed using content analysis approach. The findings were based on three objectives namely; the nature of learning content delivered on use of contraceptives, how participation in community education programs facilitate use of contraceptives and the perceived challenges faced by men and women who use contraceptives. Findings of the study reveals that the content delivered during community education on family planning has the potential to change people’s attitude and behaviours with in the camp on use of contraceptives. This is attributed to the fact that, it also integrates other healthyrelated programs such as immunization, HIV/AIDS prevention measures. The study concluded that some of the methods and approaches employed by the educators during family planning trainings were ineffective in promoting learning among the adults (men and women). Therefore, the study recommends that methods and approaches employed to teach and train adults should be those that emphasize hand-on experiences in order to promote effective learning.en_US
