In Uganda, a number of technical and research institutions, some being affiliations of 32 in- stitutions of Higher education or universities and others independent. These rely on special equipment for efficient learning and running experiments for research purposes. This equipment is very expensive that few of the government-sponsored and private institutions can afford to purchase it. In most cases, this special equipment is scattered around different institutions and as a result, most institutions do not have all that is required to conduct their research. Institutions resort to collaborating with others by sharing special equipment. In this project, we proposed to carry out research that involves the development of a centralized Equipment Scheduling System Using an AI-Based Authentication for research institutions in Uganda, based on the microservices system architecture. The system development involved the usage of the agile method of software development to achieve continuous delivery and integration. Simultaneously, a face recognition algorithml was developed using a combination of data collection, localization, transfer learning, and classification. The model was then integrated into the system as a service. The system allows users to login in with a face recognition option, and browse through the catalogue of available resources, enabling them to request access to use special equipment that is owned by other institutions after which the system schedules the request.en_US
