dc.description.abstractThis is a research report is a result of the research that was conducted and sampled in Makerere University for academic purposes. The study assessed the level of uptake of E-learning by students on the Bachelor`s Degree of Adult and Community Education programme, Makerere University. The study consisted of 52 respondents of which 50 were students and 2 lecturers. It involved mixed methods, qualitative and quantitative. The data collection methods included in depth interview, Focus Group Discussions and Observations. Analysis was done to assess the level of uptake of E-learning by students in Adult and Community Education. Results showed that although the students had access to e-learning equipment but most of the students did not have enough knowledge and skills to enable them access the e-learning platform. Only few students had basic knowledge and skills to enable them to access e-learning but not the advanced skills to navigate the learning management system efficiently. The lack of adequate knowledge skills affected the students` learning outcomes since they could not be in position to fully utilize the available resources on e-learning platforms. This made most of the students to miss out work which was always posted by both their fellow students and lecturers as well on the learning management system, the Makerere University Electronic Learning Environment (MUELE). Many of them used to fail to log in and submit in their work onto the platform since they lacked knowledge and skills on how to use the platform. It was concluded that there is an urgent need of training to ensure that students acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to enable them achieve their learning out.en_US
