| dc.description.abstract | This report is about the design and construction of a brick laying mould capable of uniformly spacing the bricks, trapping of mortar droppings, increases construction speed with greater accuracy and minimizes construction costs.
Chapter one gives the background that indicates as brick laying has been consistently done through the use of basic tools. Which leads to non-uniform spacing of bricks with mortar wastes in form of droppings increasing construction costs, the objectives of the project are to test, construct and test the mould.
Chapter two discusses the different existing brick laying methods and moulds which include the use a robot called SAM, the conventional masonry work method and bricky tool.it also includes the types and causes of mortar wastes.
Chapter three describes the methodology showing how the specific objectives of designing, constructing and testing of the brick laying mould were achieved. The designing ensured that the mould could be able to lay uniformly spaced bricks of all sizes and minimizing mortar waste while constructing involves describing how the different component parts were developed. Then testing involves comparing the results of brick lazing using the constructed mould with those of the currently used ordinary methods.
Chapter four describes the results and their analyses, the results obtained were in line with addressing the objectives of the project which were solving the problems identified from the needs statements obtained from the data that was gathered.
Chapter Five includes the conclusion and recommendations that were suggested to further improve the project in order to obtain better results
