This project presents the design and construction of a monitoring and notification system to minimize vandalism of remote terminal unit on a distribution line. The system is GSM based and involves use of voltage sensors to detect power outages on RTU, motion sensor to detect any human movement around the power distribution equipment and with the help of a GPS (Global positioning system) modem, geolocation notification data is sent to the power transmission utility company and the authorities. Chapter one is the introduction which gives general background and areas where UMEME experiences vandalism, problem statement, main objective and specific objectives, justification, significance and scope. Chapter two is the literature review which summarizes vandalism and its effects, strategies to curb vandalism, monitoring and notification system and how it operates Chapter three is the Implementation which summarizes research, system design with selection of various components, construction and testing Chapter four gives conclusions and recommendations with reference to the project work.en_US
