The main purpose of this research was to investigate the impact of different fishing methods on the quality of fish catch on Kasensero landing site. 9,243 respondents who were fishermen were selected and included in the sample using a secondary data analysis of Rakai Health Sciences Program data of 2011. The secondary data was analyzed using STATA and inference was made from this analysis. Univariate, bivariate and multivariate levels of analysis were done. A descriptive summary was made concerning the opinion of the fishermen about the quality of fish catch at the univariate level and a chi square analysis was made between quality of fish catch and the rest of the variables at 5% level of significance at the bivariate level of analysis while at the multivariate level, a multiple linear regression model was made with quality of fish catch as the dependent variable and the rest of the variables as independent variables at 5% level of significance. This analysis revealed quality of fish catch is significantly and positively influenced by use of long lines as a fishing method, fishermen in the age group of 20 – 24 and 25 – 34, fishermen in the poorer wealth status whereas primary and secondary attendees and presence of migrants significantly influenced quality of fish catch to the negative direction. Based on the research findings in here, a number of recommendations can be drawn i.e., Reducing tariffs on imported modern fishing equipment; Providing adequately trained man-power to train the local fishermen in the use of modern fishing equipment and Providing soft loans for local and commercial fish farmers to procure this equipment at affordable pricesen_US
