dc.description.abstractThis report is on a study on the determinants of a student’s ability to obtain an internship placement in Kampala where a sample of eighty two (82) final year students from school of statistics and planning that is the students doing BSTAT, BSAS, BPOP, BSBS and BSQE in Makerere University Kampala were interviewed about how easy or how hard it is to obtain an internship placement in Kampala. This research took eight (8) months to be fully completed. Primary data was used where a questionnaire was designed and sent to the students. I used a software called Stata to analyse the data obtained from the students where the dependent variable was obtaining internship in Kampala and the independent variables include Parents education level, opportunity/ self-awareness, CGPA, Family background, participation in campus organizations, career guidance experiences. This report is built on five chapters; Chapter one is the introduction which gives the background to the study, the scope of the study, the problem statement, objectives of the study, research hypothesis, significance of the study and the conceptual framework. Chapter two is about the literature review which explains how different determinants of obtaining internship placement are talked about by different scholars, among these include; family background, CGPA, participation in campus organizations, career guidance activities, opportunity/ Self-awareness. Chapter three involves the research methodology which includes the data sources that is to say the study population, the sample size determination and sampling procedure, the sampling techniques; it also includes the data analysis that is the bivariate and multivariate analysis; the ethical consideration and study variables used in the study. Chapter four elaborates on the findings of the study; in other words, it puts chapter three into practice. Chapter five includes the discussion of findings, conclusions of the study and recommendations of the study and the areas of further researchen_US
