The thermochemical modelling of producer gas composition via gasification of agricultural wastes available in Uganda

Biomass is one of the most widely available energy sources and gasification is a thermal conversion process where biomass is converted into a fuel gas with a gasifying agent(s). In this paper, the Newton Raphson Method in MAT LAB was used to predict the producer gas composition. Prediction accuracy of the model is validated by comparing with available experimental results in other literature and the deviation from experimental results was quantified by Root Mean Square (RMS) error which was 4.94. In the model, the gasification temperature was chosen as 800oC and the eucalyptus saw dust was assumed to consist of 20% moisture. The producer gas composition from eucalyptus saw dust waste was found to contain hydrogen (25.49%), carbonmonoxide (22.77%), carbondioxide (10.57%), methane (0.89%) and nitrogen (40.28%).
