One of the major processes involved in the palm oil industry is refining. The most important step in the refining process of Crude Palm Oil is the deodorization stage. In this stage, the main aim is to eliminate the Free fatty Acids that are otherwise harmful for human consumption. Several conditions determine the efficiency of this process. It occurs under vacuum and high temperatures between 250-2600C. The products formed after deodorization are RBD and PFAD. In this report, a simulator, Aspen Plus V10 was used to carry out a simulation of the deodorization section with an overall plant production capacity of 50kg/hr. The simulator gave calculated details of the mass and energy balances around the deodorizer. RBD produced from the deodorizer was 38.24kg/hr. which accounted for 76% of the total production. PFAD produced was 11.76kg/hr. which was 24% of the total production. Steam used in the process was 10kg/hr.
