Asthma is one of the chronic respiratory diseases (CRD) which affect the airways and parts of the lungs. It affects people of all ages in all parts of the world. The disease is said to cause death rates of 27.3 per 1000 person years. Despite the dangers, research on the disease has received limited attention. The disease prevalence has been attributed to socio-economic and environmental conditions such as parent’s history, children’s allergic reactions and in door cooking among others. Asthma and COPD medicines are currently unaffordable in the private sector costing several days wages. The rate of asthma exacerbations and mortality are high in Uganda and are associated with poor asthma control which eventually leads to deaths. The Asthma Allergen Monitoring System has a gas sensor, a temperature and humidity sensor for monitoring the environmental conditions. The system notifies the patients that the conditions may be dangerous for their health through the buzzer making a beeping sound prompting them to leave. This helps in preventing the patients from getting attacks and hence they live healthier and more comfortable lives. This in turn will reduce the death rates for asthma in the long run.en_US
