Tensile fabric architecture is a construction technique that has become a common and trend worldwide. It’s a kind of construction that has drastically developed over the years in terms of the scale it can cover, the technology that is involved and it's now recognized in addressing common construction issues like sustainability, cost, and time implication. Tensile fabric architecture has led to the construction of structures that are considered to be iconic all over the world. However, in Uganda, the concept of tensile fabric architecture is one that seems to be mildly embraced despite its vast potential and capability. There seems to be a problem of severe lack of knowledge and interest in the material and as a result, very few developers are seen to have used this on structures in Kampala and Uganda as a whole. The aim of this research was to study the applicability and potential of tensile fabric architecture in Uganda. It was carried out using a case study approach with buildings purposively selected to investigate how this kind of construction was adopted, executed. And to analyze how the spaces that were enclosed by these membranes were performing, users of these structures were also interviewed. The study sought to understand the challenges that are involved in using tensile fabric architecture in Uganda and would provide more knowledge on the subject. The research generally revealed a positive reception of the material from the managers and the users of the structures. However, there was a lack of knowledge about the material from the professionals in the construction field. Finally, the research provided a vast range of knowledge concerning effective construction and use of tensile fabric plus suggesting areas for further study into the subjecten_US
