This research project intended to assess the factors influencing domestic violence in Uganda, case study of Ryamatumba parish Rubirizi district. It was carried out as a step by step project until it was successfully completed. The research findings were based on a sample size of 108 which was determined using Yamane’s (1967) formula at 5% level of precision and research face to face interviews were conducted with these couples with a guide of a well-designed Open Data Kit containing all the predetermined questions. The collected data was analyzed using STATA and inference was made from this analysis. Univariate, bivariate and multivariate levels of analysis were done. Following results from the analysis, it was found out that domestic violence in Ryamatumba parish significantly and positively influenced by alcohol consumption, lack of mutual trust between couples, age and poverty levels at 5% level of significance. The results showed that couples who consume alcohol had increased odds (2.660008) of being victims to domestic violence as compared to couples who do not consume alcohol. Also, from the analysis results, lack of mutual trust, age of couples and poverty levels significantly and positively influenced domestic violence. Recommendations were further made basing on the research results from this study as; The government was encouraged to sensitize couples about the dangers of consuming too much alcohol in their marriages. Couples were also recommended to respect each other in their marriages regardless of their ages, this would help young couples not to be at a risk of experiencing domestic violence. Seeking advice from the concerned people such as councilors was also recommended for couples who may not be mutually trusting each More to that, couples should mutually trust each other since lack of mutual trust also had a positive and significant effect on domestic violence. Couples should be given advice especially by councilors in case there are some misunderstandings between them. And lastly, the government should provide incentives to couples in Ryamatumba parish since most of them are farmers and even couples themselves should work hard to increase on their daily earnings.en_US
