| dc.description.abstract | This research was carried out to investigate and show how proverbs in a literary text influence the development of themes as well as other literary elements such as characters and also the stylistic devices embedded in the proverbs themselves. From the research carried out I found out that some few scholars have tried to talk about the role played by proverbs in the development of
