The objectives of the research were intended to find out the factors of using slang, reasons for using slang, slang expressions and examples used by the students. The research applied a qualitative descriptive method. Thus, it was employed by conducting observations and interviews. The researcher used purposive sampling to determine the participants in the research. Namely the literature students of senior six class which consists of 27 students. The study also found out that English has been distorted due to slang. Many students are unable to present speeches and communicate effectively without using slangs in their utterance and writings. The study revealed some of the slangs used by students such as, lol, kay, nerd, lame, hommie, crib, chillax, Bob, dude, wana among others. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the students often use slang in their communication to confuse and hide information. However much they use these slangs in communication, they never use them in their academic assignments.en_US
