The impact of dramatization of Scriptures on spreading the Gospel in the Catholic Church: the case study of Our Lady of Consolata, Bweyogerere Parish, Wakiso

Abstract

This study sought to examine the impact of dramatization of scriptures on spreading the gospel in the Catholic Church with specific focus on Our Lady of Consolata Church in Wakiso District, Bweyogerere Central Division, Bweyogerere Village. The study employed a qualitative case study design and used unstructured in-depth interviews, observation and document analysis to collect the data which helped me to critically study the drama activities of the Church and its impact on the Church. It was found out that majority of the people that actively participate and enjoy these dramas are youths and young children of the Church. Participants of these dramas do it out of free will and for free. In addition to that, the consumers who are the members of the congregation enjoy the dramas and ensure their sustainability by freely providing small funds which go to the treasury of the Drama Department and allocated accordingly. Furthermore, it was discovered that the dramas are most popular during the Church Festive seasons than on other days of the year. The findings of this research will enable the Church leaders to understand better the importance of drama in evangelization and as well as provide them with tips on how to improve the quality and use of drama in the Church. This study will also act as a reference and source of information for future researchers in related fields.
