dc.description.abstractThe study addresses the roles of music in the preservation of Kiganda norms, culture and traditions amongst the Baganda people of Buganda. The dissertation does not only consider the role of music in the preservation of Kiganda norms, culture and traditions; it is also concerned with addressing the music of the Baganda and its transmission to the young generation of the future Buganda. This dissertation addresses the different aspects or forms of music for example Kiganda orchestra music, choral music, indigenous dramatic societies, band music, Kagondo kamu music and fusion music in Buganda Kingdom. It then addresses the oral tradition forms of Kiganda‘s oral tradition literature. It then examines the ways through which music plays a role in the lives of the Baganda.en_US
