A dissertation submitted to the Department of Performing Arts and Film in the School of Liberal and Performing, College of Humanities and Social Sciences in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the ward of a Bachelor of Arts in Music of Makerere Universityen_US
In this study, I examined the role of music in orienting first year students at Makerere University. I have analyzed factors that led to formation of Prime-Time event, its aims and how it has used music to orient year one students on sexual relationships. I have examined the sexual life of year one students, understanding the conditions that stimulate them to engage in sexual relationships, demonstrating the effects of sexual relationships to both girls and boys of year one at the University. I have also shared my personal experience relating to sexual relationships as well as being a fun of Prime-Time while at the University. As I conclude this dissertation, I have acknowledged that music has a great impact on shaping the attitudes of year one students towards sexual relationships at the University. Finally, I have concluded that sexual relationships negatively affect the life of female students in year one compared to their male counterparts. Furthermore, I have noted that the administration of Makerere University has not invested much in Prime-Time event which limit its capacity to expand its influence on students, especially in relation to how it can help them live a purposeful life at campus.en_US
