dc.description.abstract | The research was conducted to study informal road reserve activities and their impact on the smooth flow of traffic in Kampala city a case study of Kafumbe Mukasa road reserve. This was so because informal activities which also tend to operate along the road reserve for easy access to markets are one of the biggest challenges in the city as the city authority (KCCA) try to emphasize trade order as stated in the KCCA act of 2010. Because they tend to operate along the road reserve, it also means that there is away they also affect the flow of traffic. When the smooth flow of traffic is disrupted it tends to increase the competition at regional and local level of the city’s capital investment due to increase travel time and hence a loss of profitability to many businesses as employees tends to arrive late for work. However the activities along the road reserve tend to provide a crucial livelihood to most of the vulnerable urban poor.
