Assessment of boiler efficiency in tea industries of Uganda
Abstract
Tea as a beverage is enjoyed by more than half of the world’s population. India ranks first in
tea production as well as consumption and while China ranks second. India and China
together account for around half of the world’s tea production. They export about a quarter
of their production. Countries like Kenya, Sri Lanka and Indonesia produce only 24%
of the world tea but controls 50% of the global trade. These countries export about
90% of their production. World tea production in the year 2014 was about 6,400,000 tonnes.
Tea production is concentrated in a few countries due to suitable climate, soil and availability
of cheap labour. (Tea Research Institute, 2014)
