Factors responsible for declining theatre audiences at the Uganda National Theatre Kampala
Abstract
This dissertation presents an evaluation of the factors responsible for declining theatre audiences at the Uganda National Theatre Kampala and why those factors have persisted over the time. The dissertation further presents possible solutions to the challenges faced by the audience at the Uganda National Theatre.
A mixed research methodology that included both the Qualitative and Quantitative research methods were used to collect and analyze data. The research tools that were used include; Questionnaires, interviews, Library and participant observation.
The dissertation presents the findings of the research, describing the factors responsible for declining theatre audience at the Uganda National Theatre Kampala. The researcher discovered that one of the most crippling factors are poor publicity, poor quality production, competition from other media and development of live entertainment. The report ends with a summary of the findings, a general conclusion and the recommendations made by the researcher basing on the findings.
