    Representation of the theme of love in selected good life music crew songs

    Songs are related to poetry and love is a fundamental idea that affects several lives and aspects in our society. And so in this study, I seek to show the way love is presented in the few selected songs sung by the duo stated above thus I will explore the stylistic devices used to portray the impact of love on different people irrespective of background. In several literature novels, plays, and a few poems, there is always a theme of love depicted. Even in movies, love is always a topic in most of them. Therefore, this gives love an upper edge as one of the most viable issue that we deal with in our society. In addition, songs and poems are related in such a way that they both deal with emotions of particular individuals regardless of the circumstances surrounding a person.

    Performance strategies in selected Ankole traditional marriage songs.

    The study basically looks at the performance strategies in selected Ankole traditional marriage songs . These ceremonies include give away ceremonies and wedding ceremonies and even introduction among the Banyankole .I intend to find out the performance strategies in selected Ankole traditional marriage songs. The research contains introduction about marriage songs, literature review which looks at different scholars who identified the value and performance strategies in traditional marriage songs. The researcher used the interview, observation, Data analysis methods, Note taking, translation and discussion methods. The researcher attended different marriage ceremonies and listened to different radio and television programs which were related to marriage thus finding out the view that employed the performance strategies. The study established that the traditional marriage songs have been least performed which has neutralized the value of Ankole culture. It should be noted that where such songs are still existing, the impact is still of value. The study concluded that the performance strategies in the traditional marriage songs is crucial for it employs the style, theme and the value of songs in society. The study recommended that such songs should be put in writing so that they can be made popular among the public and the people who have inter married and this would increase the purpose and avail the performance strategies in the Ankole traditional marriage songs.

    Teacher influence on students’ academic performance in secondary school Biology in Wakiso District, Uganda.

    The study investigated the effects of teacher qualification, teacher's experience and teacher-student ratio on the academic achievement of learners in O Level Biology in Wakiso district. The study was motivated by the poor performance of students in the subject and a teacher is a crucial factor as regards to the academic performance of students. The study employed an expost-facto design using a cross sectional survey that involved collection of data on more than one case at a single point in order to collect both qualitative and quantitative data in connection with the study. The researchers targeted Biology teachers in the schools within the study area. The sample comprised of 60 respondents from 15 schools. Five schools were selected from Busiro County, five more schools from Entebbe municipality and the other five from Kyadondo county, as the three counties that make up Wakiso District. Random sampling was used to select the schools and four Biology teachers from each school. Records of the Biology performance for years 2018 and 2017 were collected from schools. The results show that students performance was best in schools with teachers of 5 years teaching experience and worst performance was observed with teachers of teaching experience 11 years and above. The study found out that there is no difference in performance of students in classes above 40 students. It was also observed that majority of the teachers are Bachelor degree holders, with diploma holders having upgraded. No difference in academic achievement was observed in students taught by the two categories of teachers. We recommend refresher training courses for teachers who have spent long in the profession and smaller classes of below 40 students.

    Kwanza kabisa, ninapenda kumshukuru mwenyezi Mungu mwingi wa rehema ambaye amenisaidia na amenibariki katika kufanikisha kazi yangu hii. Shukurani zangu za pekee zimwendee msimamizi wangu wa utafiti huu Dktr. Masengo innocent kwa kubeba jukumu la kuisimamia vyema kazi hii. Nimemshukuru kwa ujasiri na uvumilivu wake mkubwa tokea hatua ya kuandika pendekezo la utafiti hadi kumalizika kwa kazi hii. Ninaamini kuwa amenivumilia vya kutosha kwa udhaifu wangu kama binadamu na kama mwanafunzi Mafanikio yaTasnifu hii yametokana na juhudi yake kubwa ya kusoma, kukosoa , kurekebisha, kuelekeza na kushauri yale yote yanayofaa kuzingatiwa katika utafiti huu. Licha ya majukumu mengi aliyonayo hakusita hata mara moja kusoma kazi yangu kwa umakini mkubwa kwa wakati na kutoa maelekezo yanayojenga kazi hii kwa muda wote na wakati ufaao. Sina cha kumlipa ila nina muombea ubariki kwa mwenyezi Mungu ampe maisha marefu na amzidishie nguvu na imani ili aweze kutoa mchango kwa wanataaluma na taifa kwa ujumla. Nawashukuru wahadhiri wote wa Idara ya Kiswahili katika Chuo Kikuu cha makerere kwa mchango wao walionipa: BW.Wambette,Bw.Kyomuhendo victor,Dktr.masereka levi Mungu awape maisha marefu na ya furaha katika maisha yao yote ili waendelee kutoa mchango wa kitaaluma na wa kijamii katika Taifa letu. Vile vile ninatoa shukurani zangu za dhati kwa wanafunzi wenzangu wote wa shahada ya uzamili ya Kiswahili wa mwaka wa masomo 2015/2019. Shukurani hizi za pekee zimetokana na ushirikiano wao wa dhati kwa kipindi chote cha masomo ya uzamili. Mwenyezi Mungu awazidishie moyo wa kupendana na kusaidiana. Vilevile, ninatoa shukurani zangu za dhati kwa wazazi wangu, mzee mugume zepha na nakate sedridah pamoja na familia yangu kwa kuniendeleza kielimu hadi kufikia hatua hii ya juu. Nawashukuru kwa msaada wao wa hali na mali, Mwenyezi Mungu awajalie afya na rehema tele.

    Changing faces in the performance of Sabiny initiation songs among the Sabiny of Uganda.

    This study seeks to investigate the changing faces in the performance of Sabiny initiation songs. A lot of change has taken place in relation to the performance of this songs whereby this songs are sung and performed in other contexts that is not initiation like cultural galas at school and music festivals. The dilemma and problem in the change in performance of these songs is that the original intended meaning of these songs is slowly dying away since when they are sung outside initiation period, the meaning is not the same at all. Primary and Secondary sources of data were consulted. Collection of primary data involved carrying out both participant and non-participant observations in Kapchorwa district. Interviews were also employed in primary sources. Secondary sources included information from written materials like books, journals, reports, articles and periodicals Findings of this research are a record of Sabiny initiation music, which is ever evolving to conform to the changing socio cultural and economic situation of the society. The findings are a repository for reference by future generations in scholarship and ethno musicological research.

    Assessing the methods used by TASO in creating awareness on gender based violence in Entebbe Municipality in Wakiso District.

    Many methods are used by TASO Entebbe center in creating awareness on gender based violence these are; face to face methods, group sessions methods, lecture methods, counseling methods, Home visit methods among others and they are all facilitated by the counselors, medics and sometimes expert clients. During awareness creation TASO experts follow the guide lines from the ministry of Health which are designed by the ministry itself. These methods are used through by TASO in creating awareness on GBV which include, use of the media, combining efforts with every partners in the community, to increase on the follow up, to go to the communities not sitting in offices, government should provide funds, more man power to offer counseling and so many others. one on one counseling, question and answer, teaching format like in a class room setting and discussions TASO Entebbe center uses methods that are gender sensitive in nature since they look at male and female, boys and girls in a broader perspective .The methods used by TASO in creating awareness on GBV are very effective in a way that there are positive outcomes seen through change of behavior from undesirable situations to desirable situations. In order these methods to be effective there many factors that have contributed to their effectiveness including, smooth relationship between facilitators and clients, offering professional counseling, offering sessions repeatedly, having dialogues with clients through discussions and follow ups by calling our clients and visiting them in their homes. Many strategies have been suggested in order to strengthen and enhance the existing methods used

Cha umhimu ambacho kimegunduliwa Ni kiasi kikubwa ambacho kinatumia tafsiri kuwafundisha wanafunzi wa nchi lugha ya pili (Kiswahili) yaani lugha lengwa(LL).Kulingana na Utafiti fanyiwa Jambo la mhimu kuelewa Ni kwamba tafsiri katika hali kufundisha na kujifunza lugha ya Kiswahili, tafsiri inatumiwa kwa kiasi kikubwa ama kwa kiasi cha juu cha aslimia 96.

    The significance of irony in selected Runyankole proverbs

    The study examined the “The Significance of Irony in Selected Runyankole Proverbs” and particularly how Irony influences meaning in the selected Runyankole proverbs. The study foregrounds how Irony as a literary device influences meaning in the proverbs that will be scrutinized in the study. This study was carried out in western Uganda, Mbarara district where data was collected from my respondent who is a resident of Rwampara and the core objective of this study is to show how irony influences meaning in Nkole proverbs that have been keenly selected for this particular study. The main purpose of the study was to examine and analyses Irony and how it influences meaning in Nkole proverbs. The objectives included; To examine the aspects of Irony in the Nkole proverbs and To show how Irony influences meaning in Nkole proverbs. The research question were; What aspects of Irony are in the selected Nkole proverbs and How does Irony influence meaning in Ankole proverbs? The research methodology used was an embodiment of the sources of data, the mode of data collection, the methods of analyzing the collected data, the research procedure and the problems encountered in the research. Various Runyakore proverbs were discussed and analysed.
