Like any other study problem; several studies were done concerning plagiarism and therefore; the researcher reviewed existing literature to get some insights pertaining the relationship between plagiarism; students’ motivation and academic performance. The study adopted quantitative research design. Krejcie and Morgan (1970) table was used to determine the sample size of 155 respondents from a population of 260 BIOP 3rd year students within the BIOP department at Makerere University. Then a random sampling technique was employed to select respondents. An approved structured questionnaire was used in the study. Third hypothesis noted a positive relationship between students’ motivation and students’ performance. Intrinsic motivation amongst highly performing students compels them to distance themselves from cheating exercises. In addition; highly motivated students perform well in academics as compared to low motivated students. The researcher recommended Makerere University to adopt strict policies against plagiarism, introduce electronic social media support platforms, and reduce on the lecture student ratio as an attempt to reduce on the growing rates of plagiarism within college studentsen_US
