Personality, employee engagement and job performance among Uganda Girl Guides Association employees
Abstract
This study sought to establish the relationships between personality, job performance and employee engagement among Uganda Girl Guides Association employees. To identify the relationship three objectives which included finding out whether personality and Employee engagement are related, investigating the relationship between personality and job Performance and establishing the relationship between engagement and job performance.
The study used a correlation research design, it was quantitative and cross sectional in nature. A total of 66 respondents employed at Uganda Girl Guides Association took part in this study which was determined using Morgan and Krejice method. Data was collected using self-administered closed ended questionnaire after getting consent from each respondent. The validity of the research instrument was done using Cronbach`s alpha and Pearson product moment correlation coefficient (r) was used to test the study hypotheses.
The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between employee engagement and job performance. The relationship between personality and employee engagement was not significantly associated and the relationship between personality and job performance was also not significantly associated. Hypothesis 1 and hypothesis 2 were found to be insignificant and hypothesis three was found to significant. The researcher therefore recommends organizations s to recognize employees as its human/ capital, implementation of performance-related pay systems, effective and fair means of positioning and selecting employees and designing employee feedback system in respect to leaders' behavior.
