dc.description.abstractPrison is an institution created to punish inmates who had a foul with the law and to reform them into law abiding residents to reduce recidivism (Rao, Manaf, & Minhat, 2018). More than 10 million people are imprisoned worldwide with more 2.3 million in the USA and another 0.9 million in administrative detention in China (Fazel & Seewald, 2012). In Africa, a 76% rise has been observed in Algeria, South Africa’s prison population had decreased from 394 to 328 per 100000 of the total population while Ethiopia has increased from 94 to 124 per 100000 of the total population all between 2000 and 2011 (Fikirte, Fentie Ambaw and Hordofa, 2019).en_US
