A Research Dissertation Submitted in Partial Fulfilment of the Requirement for the Award of Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Makerere Universityen_US
The study aimed at investigating the Impact of employee motivation and job satisfaction on job performance on employees of Hotel Africana. The study adopted a correlation study design with a population of 100 employees from the entire organization. Simple random sampling technique was used to draw a sample of 80 respondents from the population. Data was collected from respondents using self-administered standard questionnaire and through Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) data was entered and analyzed. Descriptive statistics showed that majority 58.8% men were followed by females with 41.3% of the total population, majority were between 30-34 years (35%). Results from Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (r) further indicated that there was a significant employee motivation and job satisfaction (r=.659, p=.000), significant relationship between job satisfaction and job performance (r =.378, p=.000) p=0.01 and significant positive relationship between employee motivation and job performance (since r =.516, p=.049). Thus, the findings of this study provide several recommendations to administrators and managers of the several organizations private entities in designing policies and procedures that will be used as employee motivational guidelines for effective satisfaction and high job performance. Basing on the findings, organizations should therefore formulate favorable work schedules for their employees and provide employee assistance programmes to help the demotivated employees. Major concerns should be put on interventions aimed at improving motivation at work such as training sessions and workshops, and employee assistance programs. This is because there was a strong relationship between the variables (job satisfaction and job performance) and employee motivation.en_US
