dc.description.abstractThe impact of Personality traits on the Job performance of employees is critical and many organizations use this effect on their employees. Personality is one of the major psychological factors affecting the human behavior. In psychology, the five personality traits are five broad domains or dimensions of personality of Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Openness to experience, Agreeableness and neuroticism play an important role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of employee’s job performance. The study was carried out to investigate whether there is a significant relationship between personal traits and job performance among workers ats Makerere University Library department. The specific objective of the study was to examine the significant relationship between job performance and personal traits among workers at Makerere University Library department. This research considered a sample space of 60 respondents from the library department of Makerere university who were randomly selected. Self-administered questionnaires were used in data collection process the data was then analyzed using the statistical software package for social sciences (SPSS) version 20. Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient was used to determine the significance of the relationships among variables. The findings states that Personality traits positively correlated with Job performance and Conscientiousness is having attributes that directly relates to Job performance of employees with highest weights. Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Openness to experience, Agreeableness have positive and significant impact on Job performance of employees and Neuroticism has negative and significant impact on Job performance of employees at Makerere University library department.en_US
