dc.description.abstractThe study was carried out to investigate whether there is a significant relationship between Stress, Self- Esteem and Coping strategies Among School going Adolescents in Kampala District. The specific objective of the study was to examine the significant relationship between Self Esteem, Depression and copying strategies among adolescents in Kampala District. The study included 100 secondary school adolescents both male and female “O” and “A” Level students admitted to Rhines Secondary School. Self-administered questionnaires were used in data collection process the data was then be analyzed using the Statistical Software Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient was used to determine the significance of the relationships among variable. The findings showed that self-esteem is significantly related to stress (r=-.059**, P=.557). Furthermore the findings concluded that self-esteem is not significantly related to Coping Strategies(r=.078** , P=.439).The findings also concluded that Coping Strategies are not significantly related to Stress (r=.187** , P=.063).But it was recommended that the Government, policy makers and civil society organizations need to craft appropriate programs and establish rehabilitation centers that help address the causes of stress and self-esteem among adolescents while promoting awareness about coping strategies among young people on how to deal with mental problems most especially among adolescenten_US
