dc.description.abstract | The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and intimate partner violence among urban refugees. This study used a correlation study design to establish the association between the variables. The study sample of 100 refugees was selected using purposive sampling. The PCL 5 was used to test for Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder, Abusive Behavior Inventory was used to measure intimate partner violence and the Patient Health Questionnaire(PHQ-9) measured depression. Collected data was analyzed using IBM statistical package for social sciences(SPSS-24) and Pearson Chi square test was used to test the level of significance of the hypothesis. The results of the study indicated that there was a significant association between post- traumatic stress disorder and depression,[x2(1, 100) =25.808 ,P=(,0.005)], depression and Intimate partner violence are also significantly associated [x2(1,100)=5.953, P=(0.015)] ,Intimate partner violence and post- traumatic stress disorder are also significantly associated[ x2(1,100) =10.445 , P= (<0.005)] .The association between intimate partner violence and depression calls for immediate intervention to combat all the causes of post- traumatic stress disorders that give rise to violence and depression. | en_US |
