Gender differences, self-esteem and depression among first year students at Makerere University
Abstract
The study investigated the relationship between gender differences, self-esteem and depression among first year students at Makerere University. A cross sectional survey design that was quantitative in nature was adopted. A sample of 50 university students both males and females aged 1825 and above was selected by use of simple random sampling technique. Data was collected by use of semi-structured questionnaires and was analyzed by using statistical package of social sciences (SPSS v23). Person product moment correlation (r) was used to test the significance of the hypothesis. Results of the study revealed no significant relationship between gen der differences, self-esteem and depression among first year students at Makerere University.
