The influence of education level and individual attitudes on voluntary HIV Testing among Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) at Amo Community Development Uganda

Abstract

This dissertation about The Influence of Education Level and Individual Attitudes on Voluntary HIV Testing among Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) was carried out at Amo Community Development Uganda located in Kakoro, Butebo district Uganda. This was because the place was easily accessible. The study was guided by three objectives; To examine the relationship between education level and voluntary HIV testing, To examine the relationship between individual attitudes and voluntary HIV testing, To examine the relationship between education level, individual attitudes and voluntary HIV testing among adolescents and young adults. One of the significance of the study was to enable young adults acquire knowledge and awareness about HIV testing thus encouraging them to go for voluntary HIV testing, the study was guided by correlation cross sectional study design targeting a sample of 120 respondents from Amo community development Uganda between the ages of (15-35) years. The study revealed that education level significantly influences voluntary HIV testing among adolescents and young adults where by positive individual attitudes highly influence voluntary HIV testing , it also showed that individual attitudes significantly influences voluntary HIV testing and there is no relationship between education level and individual attitudes.
