dc.description.abstractThe study was aimed at finding the relationship between physical abuse, academic performance and coping strategies among adolescents. A study adopted a qualitative research approach with correlational method to determine the relationship between the study variables. Data was analysed using SPSS version 23. The results showed that there is no relationship between physical abuse and academic performance(p=.166>0.05). The results also showed a strong relationship between academic performance and coping strategies.(p=.001<0.05). The results also showed that there was a strong relationship between physical abuse and coping strategies.(p=.000<0.05). Physical abuse is one of the most sensitive issues in schools where by the academic performance and copying strategies is based. Schools with less physical abuse ensure a favourable studying environment that will motivate students either or both intrinsically and extrinsically among students to study in such an environment and once students are in such a position they are most likely to deliver effectively thus high level of high of academic performance. Therefore, the government and schools need to implement psychosocial programs to enable students cope positivelyen_US
