| dc.description.abstract | The study concentrated on the relationship between self-esteem, peer pressure and risky sexual
behaviors among adolescents. The study was guided by the specific objective aimed at determining
the relationship between self-esteem, peer pressure and risk sexual behaviors among adolescents.
The study employed descriptive research design and engaged in a sample of 100 respondents to
gather data for the study. A sample of 100 respondents was determined using a formula derived
from Yamene (1969) stratified random sampling techniques was used because it allowed
respondents an equal chance in participating in the study. Questionnaires were used as data
collection instruments. Content analysis technique was used to analyse data with the help of excel
computer program. The results show that majority as the respondents affirmed to low self-esteem also experience risky sexual behaviors, stress, and depression and peer pressure.
Conclusively, it was learnt that adolescents are always under the influence of peer pressure and
engage in risky sexual behaviors.
It was learnt that research conducted at integrated child and youth development helped
adolescents and administration lf integrated child and youth development to improve on the self-esteem factors, peer pressure and guide the adolescents how to overcome risky sexual
behaviours. The administration of integrated child and youth development also put in place
counseling center to prevent the underlying factors that lead to peer pressure and risk sexual
